MemberSulin,
If u haven’t tried to invite each other, u want to try it. For a 2-way webcam conversation, participants have to invite each other. I tried it and it worked.Quote:quote:Originally posted by sulini just bought a new webcam and it works when i do the audio/tuning wizard and webcam settings on msn6.0. the problem is when i try to start a webcam conversation with my friend, the screen is all black and when i try the webcam settings again, no picture appears and it just shows a grey screen. i dunno what the problem is… can someone tell me what’s wrong please?

MemberHi,
I managed to fix the problem by removing previously installed webcam software (you may need to use regedit [be careful!!!] to clear all of it).Cam seems to work properly most of the time, the rest of the time may just be due to running ME!
Still can’t get the webcam settings screen in MSN to show anything but grey though…..ho hum…

MemberThere are certainly a million POSSIBLE things that can cause webcam problems, but having following this thread and similar threads on other forums, it’s clear that there’s some fundamental problem with MSN Messenger when it comes to webcams. People are reporting problems with many different webcams, on multiple OSes, with their firewalls turned off. The only common denominator is Messenger itself.
I have a Logitech ClickSmart 310 camera/webcam. I’m running MSN Messenger 6.1 on XP Home. As others have reported, it works fine in other programs and even works fine in Messenger’s “Tuning Wizard” and “Web Camera Settings”. Even with my firewall turned off, I have significant problems actually using it in Webcam mode. Sometimes I get nothing. Other times, I can get one-way video, depending on who initiates the request for webcam. (If I initiate, I can send.) I’ve also had problems with audio. Lastly, I also tried my digital camcorder (a Sony DCR-PC120) via its firewire port. I can select it and I see video in Messenger’s Tuning Wizard, but it won’t even let me select it when I try to USE it in Messenger. Very odd!!
