I’m looking to extend the USB cable of my “logitech quickcam messenger” with 2-3 meters, but all these
“a to b” and “a to a” type cables puzzle me. Which sort of usb extension cable I need for webcam?
Thanks
Basically you want an “A to A” cable. An “A to B” cable is a normal USB cable (not an extension).
The connectors look like this:
It’s called “A to A” because this cable has two “Type A” connectors; one is male and the other is female. They Type A connector is what a standard USB port on your computer uses.
You can get extensions in various lengths and thicknesses. They should all generally work ok, but be aware that the longer the cable, the weaker your signal will become and the more problems you’ll have. I would also recommend paying a few extra bucks for a thicker, more durable extension cable.
Thanks for the response. This confirms it, although I found the info earlier and ordered one (a to a, male-female). Well, glad to know I made the right pick.
