Yahoo changed servers so the webcams only work with Yahoo version 7 and 7.5
Webcams no longer work with any other Yahoo version, or Yahelite and any other third party webcam viewers.
Webcams now defaults to super mode.
For those of you that use buddy spy, it can’t detect webcams being on anymore.

I just wonder where you get this information ?And I’m surprised about “defaults to super mode” – I see no evidence of that in my case anyway.
Can you explain more ?I mostly used Yahoo 5.6 and on the first of the month I was not able to view webcams with it so I tried Yahoo 7 and 7.5 and it worked, I tried it again with 5.6 also tried Yahelite’s yahsee to view cams and it would not work.
After, I turned on my cam with Yahoo 7.0 and viewed my own cam and it worked then I tried to view with Yahsee and it didn’t. then I used buddy spy to see it it could see my cam on and it showed it as off.
“defaults to super mode” Not true but it seems to be available most of the time now. I was never able to use super mode before
Other then that I do a lot of testing with Yahoo messenger.
The super webcam isn’t set as a default, setting but can be used as a default setting, if whom your camming with also is set-up the same. Both must have the firewall setting matching and on the same version series (7,0 7,5 etc…).
When contacting yahoo; They stated that some of the functions with the older versions just won’t work with the newer versions but in some cases it does work. Just don’t be surprised if IMing and cam functions appear not working.
Also they said a new function was added due to so many underaged people using IM Is that the register aged that can’t be changed once entered. That anyone under the age of 13 will not be able to cam with someone older than 17 that isn’t on their buddy list, and visa-versa. That certain words used that could be seen as sexual in nature could lock out your account.
I asked about the older versions of messenger losing the ability to use their webcams. They said; only when you try camming with a newer version that it is possible that it won’t work with the newer series.
They said the reason for doing this is to get more people to update so they can retire old series of messenger.
Being curious in nature, because of all the issues with YM they said that they are still working with the newer version but you can continue having problems when having those you talk to use an older version.

Very interesting.I must admit that currently I’m not on broadband, so of course I can’t get super. 😉
But I’ll be interested to see what others find of these changes, as superwebcam at least has been the subject of considerable debate on here (e.g. here).
New webcam Servers.
It seems to be randomly changeing servers, first it was
wc1.msg.vip.mud.yahoo.com
and then it was
wc2a.msg.dcn.yahoo.com
and now it is wc1j2.msg.mud.yahoo.com
With buddy spy you must get the right one or it does not show the cam being on
Yahelite’s webcams features are history unless Yahoo comes out with a new webcam upload wrapper, I don’t know how it will be fixed. Since the webcam wrapper was never updated for many years, they may not.
Webcam in chat 2.0 and other third party programes are not working to.
They actually have been doing this method for a while, you would connect to webcam.yahoo.com then it spits out the actual server, nothing really new with connection scheme here except that they changed the resulting servers.
for Buddy Spy users there are only three servers you need to check to see is a webcam is on.

or
wc1.msg.re2.yahoo.com

wc1a.msg.dcn.yahoo.comSo does this really mean YIM is NOT going to support webcams for Mac then?? That’s very short sighted and strange considering they have been doing it already (even if there is no voice for mac.)
Try to reinstall it, all I know is that yahoo made huge changes to the webcam. I do not have a mac to do tests.
Tried re-install and nothing changed. Tried to open it with a friend and still failing. I will bug the hell out of YIM help to see where this can get me.
keep at them, it took me a week af emailing them till they gave me an answer I liked. Never bother to contact them on a weekend, People that are retarded work then. You might get pissed off a lot when you find out a day after you send a messege that there reply is nothing to do with what your asking them.
