My friend is having a strange problem with her laptop after reformatting her hard disk.
Her hard disk use to have two partitions, and she wanted it changed to a single partition, so she deleted the partition and reformat the HDD.
After she had successfully installed the OS, windows XP Pro, a message was flashed in the monitor before the OS is loaded.
the error reads “hibernation files either missing or corrupt…”
that error flashes everytime before the OS is loaded, so my initial solution was disable the hibernation option in the power settings then re-boot. But, nothing happens!
When windows is loaded, no error have been encountered so far so i think the OS is stable.
Her Laptop is NEC.. and i have checked the BIOS too for anything related to hibernation but cant seem to find any .
Im hoping i could get some more ideas before i do anything 🙂

Another weird thing about this hibernation error is, when i enable hibernation, it will hibernate. then when i resume windows, yes it will display the error, but will resume to the previos state of the Hard Disk nonetheless.
Well thanks for your reply, and if you have any other ideas, i will greatly appreciate. i would like to reserve the re-installation of windows as a last resort. 😉
