curious, is it possible to hide your email address from people by using it to locate you?
I use my normal email to login to facebook, but I used the “contact information” section under privacy to not allow anyone to see my email on my facebook page, but when you type it, it still comes up as a hit for finding me .. and yes, I’ve tired it using a different account.
any tips to prevent this without using a different email to log in?

If you click on the Privacy option you can limit who can see you in searches. But, when I took a quick look, it seems it’s an all or nothing type of thing. Doesn’t look like you can filter by certain information.
But, you could remove yourself from searches and then it would be up to you to find and contact who you want on your contact list. That might be an option.

Only this group will be able to search for you via your email address (or your name). At the moment, it looks like you cannot exclude friends from this group though.
If for some reason it is an email address you don’t want your friends to know about, you should change it to one that they do know or you don’t mind them knowing.
