Holy cripes! (Update on the BBB newsletter and podcast)

Indeed!

The newsletter has been on hiatus since updating the forum software. I still need to fix the member profile (to actually show the “opt-out” option for people who don’t want to get the newsletter). I was hoping to get to that tonight, but alas, it’s after midnight and I’m tired. Fortunately, this Friday is my “off” day, so I’ll be tackling it for sure then. The target for the next newsletter is Tuesday, January 9th. I’m going to include:

• 2006 Year in Review
  • Visitor stats
  • Top stories
• MotM
• Staff changes
• Podcast news
• 2007 Predictions

I also have an update to the podcast planned. As you know, I did interview Justin Uberti (formerly of AOL and now working at Google), but @#$% technical problems caused most of his end of the conversation to vaporize in the Skylook recording. I’m going to find a reliable method of recording interviews (maybe Hotrecorder?) and get this podcast fired up again this month. I have some pretty clear ideas for format and frequency, and I’ll post at length in a separate discussion devoted to that.

• News from CES (I’m attending Bill Gate’s keynote on the 7th, and the exhibition on the 8th)
• Update on the podcast schedule

The next podcast won’t be published until the end of next week.

I also need to test the podcast capabilities of vBulletin (yes, they added podcast enclosure capabilities, but I’m not sure what that means). If it works the way I’m hoping, it will greatly simplify my job in posting the MP3s.
