hello, we just recently had a house built do everything is new. the phone jacks are 8-pin connectors, so I was wandering if there is a way a can network my two (soon to be three) computers with the existing lines. and cat5 cable does fit into them and I was wandering if I could just get a router and somehow get my internet (which is cable) shared among them.
please help

I don’t think we would be able to help you if you don’t know/explain how the phone system is setup.

You haven’t told us what wiring specifically is installed so we really can’t tell. If you’re unsure, why not ask your home builder what type of wiring was installed, but I’m going to take an educated guess and say its not going to work. I myself am having a house built – with Cat5 wiring for home networking – and it is a seperate jack from the phone lines. Of course. you can always give it a try with a cheap hub or router if you have one and see if anything connects.
Good Luck!
