First off, I have a wireless D-Link DI-524 router and I’ve had it for the better part of this year. About a week and a half to two weeks ago, it started just disconnecting. After I do a 5 minute reboot, it works. Sometimes it works for the rest of the night and other times it goes off after 5 minutes or up to an hour or so. I don’t understand what has caused this out of nowhere. I haven’t installed anything new on my computer or anything. This has all happened recently with my dvd player breaking, my ps2 stopped reading discs, and my computer screen has lines that flicker on it and stuff. It’s all in the same room, but the dvd player is on a different line, as is the ps2, and the router and computer are in the same surge protector but everything else works fine. Does anyone know what’s wrong with my router? Thanks a lot
D-Link has excellent customer support 24/7, I just bought a DGL-4300 and was able to contact them at 10pm to fix an issue. Maybe give them a call seeing as how they’re the ones who know your rotuer best? 😉
are you sure your surge protector is still protecting you from surges? A surge protector is supposed to protect the devices plugged into it by “breaking” itself. Once a surge protector is broken it will no longer protect your devices. Most surge protectors on the market DO NOT alert you when they have broken. They do, however, continue to provide electricity to devices. You may have been using a broken surge protector without knowing. This is most probably why your DVD player and D-Link router are now acting weird/ruined.
