thankzUnfortunately, this is one of yahoo features that is being exploited. It cannot be blocked either, unless you put that buddy in ignore bin. 🙁

MemberThis is a two fold question. First, when people want to check and see if somone is online, they send a conference invite. If the person is NOT online, the invite will come back and say “user not online”, or it will say “waiting for user to respond”. Then when you do respond by clicking decline, the other party gets a message saying, your invitation has been denied, thus he knows your online.
There are also programs that are online checkers and he can simply check to see if your online regardless of your invisible or not.
The only way that you can get out of this, is the obvious, which is to create a new ID. It can be a sub ID if you want, because then you will still have your friends list. However, when this person tries to join you – it will say, user not logged into chat. This is because he does not have your new name, only your original chat name. You can only join a user if you know what name they are using in the room they are in.
Ok, it’s deceiving, but sometimes when you want a little alone time you need to hide under the covers.
Good luck

MemberIn short, there is no way to avoid this type of online check if he is using an online checker. Although dependant upon his method of checking, if its a manual check, you can simply ignore the message box and logout, then re-login. This will not send back a reply to this user. If its a program, there is no way to avoid it, since it looks for a response back if they are OFFLINE, the default is online.

MemberYtunnel is a definate tool that helps escape some of these invites. The key is to turn them off or “do not accept invites from ANYONE”. I don’t know the response that comes back and is sent to your friend tho, you may want to test out different ways with people you know. Someone once told me if you click the X on the invite instead of the decline or accept that keeps it in limbo, however I would think it would be the same as a decline. The only way to find out for sure is to test it out. try different settings, and ask a friend what they see. Find the one that works for you. I know that with ytunnel, the invite never goes thru, as if I never got it. And I am almost positive that they get nothing on the other end. It’s as if the invite was never sent by them, or received by you. Try it out. I know I sent an invite to someone who had their invites turned off, and I never got a reply back at all, and they said they never got an invite, so that could be your answer right there.
