Memberwell its weird, I dont know if anyone has this experience, there always someone trying to hack my webcam, those ppl I dont know who are they and never been talked, and I was not in any chat room the most of time, sometimes I was invisible, I dont know how those ppl found me ,sometimes they use anonymous, sometimes I can see their ids, it’s really scary, looks like im on the some “black lists” and they have some software can spy on me.
Wish here someone can help me….it is really annoying…..i am pretty sure it is not trojan I have reinstall my ym and my whole OS.
P.S. onetime I sent messages to a person and he replyed said he found my id in a janese website, they hack into girils webcamS and you can vote . but hecK I dont understand japanese, I am not racist but seems those japanese are the perverts that’s true.September 28, 2004 at 5:17 am #37480d4rkn3ss
MemberSame kinda thing has happened to me.. I actually pm’d one of the people trying to view me and asked how they knew my cam was on. I was told there is cam scanning software that allows them to scan yahoo (the servers perhaps??) and gives them lists of online cams. I’m not sure how true this information is, but it kinda makes sense. It is scary.. my suggestion would to change it so no one can view your cam without an invitation, that way you won’t see these requests. 🙂

MemberSome people use software which scans for their online contacts who are on webcam. When their contact gives them permission to view, they’ll use a video capture program to record them (usually in an uncompromising position) and post to a website (usually booter sites). Another way they can invade your privacy is to use a mirror program. They create a user room (ex. dave’s mirror room) and let people view there webcam, which is actually mirroring the person THEY are viewing, much to the delight of the other chatters. They trade contacts among each other, much the same way as kids with trading cards.
Using d4rkn3ss’ suggestion is the best way to elude this problem.
There has also been a peeping tom worm making its way around yahoo . You may want to check out this link, firememories. https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14149#75416September 28, 2004 at 2:08 pm #37479ladybug24
MemberI get these all the time too. Since you monitor your cam & can tell the number of viewers & the names, you can control it. I just have my preferences set to where I get no IM’s unless they are on my Friend’s List & my cam is set to where only those I choose have permission to view. It also helps if you check the box to Ignore Other Viewer’s Requests. That way you never see them asking & all they will get is No Permission!!
One other thing… if you do still get these people, report them to Yahoo. I just view the profile & it gives their username. Copy that entire line & report it to Yahoo abuse.

Memberthanks guys.
ladybug, sometimes I dont even know who the heck are they, it didn’t show up the username, I have heared when they use this kind of software ,you click deny they still can hack into your cam, and you will not see the viewers number added. I use anti-virus/trojan scan/even reinstall my computer, it still happening. Maybe like my friend said, the safest way is dont use your webcam anymore or change your id…….
And…..i have to say dont think it works report to the yahoo, they just can block those perverts’ ids, get a new id only takes few mins…….October 1, 2004 at 10:32 am #37483SS_AntiHacker

MemberThe thing that firememories is talking about is people trying to view her cam. Just go to yahoo messenger>preferences and click on allow the following people to view and click on ignore other requests to view… This should stop the anoying reqests to view.
Also make sure that you check up on the list of people allowed to view. It is possible to ‘Crack’ your pass word add their name to the list of people who are allowed to view at any time.
Make sure you have an UPTO DATE anti virus scanner this should take care of most of the skiddie programs out there.
Regarding going ‘invisible’ on the list that tells you the people who are you viewing your web cam, let it suffice to say that this is possible due to a flaw in yahoo messenger.
You do not have to worry unecessarly even if a person has your ip, it is very doubtful if real hackers would be spending time on yahoo just trying to view peoples web cams.
Hope that clears a few doubts upOctober 27, 2004 at 1:51 am #3748501doublehelix10
ParticipantHey all, Well I was just skimming threw these forums absorbing knowledge and I came across the part
Quote:quote:You do not have to worry unecessarly even if a person has your ip, it is very doubtful if real hackers would be spending time on yahoo just trying to view peoples web cams.
Hope that clears a few doubts upTo make certain for all of your sakes, I’ll use the word hacker to identify myself but I do not label myself as such, I am a secuirty Exploiter, Im also a grey hat. You may look those up later but lets just call me a “hacker” if you will and I can with out a doubt agree with this quote, I and the REAL deals like me wont waist our time on little crap like this, breaking into email, stealling chat ID’s is not somthing we do at all. Those are Script kiddie newbs that use programs to do such, and have no knowledge on anything they are doing. If I was do steal your ID, break in your computer and watch your cam, Id build my own programs and Id have to have really pissed me off to make me waist time on someone that does not make me bennefit from taking software, CC#’s or critical information. It all comes down to if its worth doing and if its profitable, No one is going to hack your system in any way, the only people that will try such things use programs and gay **** like that no worries.
