How do I put a Winamp song as my nickname?

Hi there,

Is there anyway i can put the current winamp/mp3 song in my msn messenger nickname? I have seen someone else ask the same thing, on one of the threads but i cannot find it?
Any suggestions?

You can use Grimbo Messenger Toolkit, but it is not MSN Messenger 6 compatible. It works fine with Windows Messenger 4.7, not sure about MSN Messenger 5.x

If you have Messenger Plus!, you can type in a conversation window: /nick (!WAT)

and it will make your nick the name of the currently playing song.

Thankyou for your help, i have mess 6 with plus, but still not sure how to go about putting it in the convo window, i didnt understand the command you gave… evil steph.

Neena simply open a conversation window with anyone of your contacts and type in the following:

/nick (!WAT)

This will only work if you have winamp playing, otherwise your nickname will show up as (!WAT)

Thanks EvilSeph…I knew there was a way to do it with MsgPlus!

It will change your name on your buddy list as well. Why not try it and see for yourself.

I got the nickname to change and it works, but when I change songs in winamp the nickname doesn’t change. Is there anyway to get it auto-updated so I don’t have to keep typing “/nick Listening to: (!WAT)” all the time?

i understand that MSN PLUS can change the nick of msn messenger wid the current song playin in winamp… but the song title will stay the same when another song is been played.. is there anyway we could auto change the song titles ?

Simple Answer, no.
It’s impossible. It would be constantly buffering, and take up balls ‘O RAM.

I was just wondering cuz I use RealOne player and dont know if that also works the same as Winamp on the MSN messenger and dont have to use Winamp. If RealOne player doesnt work the same and only Winamp does I dont know if you have to download Winamp or if it just comes standard on a computer or where to find it. thanks a bunch!

The only plug-ins available are for Winamp only. It does not usually come standard with your computer, you can download Winamp for free from these links:

Winamp 2.91 – The more popular version – (I recommend it)
or
Winamp 3 – The newest version, a resource hog and very slow loading.

thank you so much. But one more question. If the people you are talking to have speakers on do they actually hear the song you are listening to or does it just put lyrics down on the screen?
