MemberNo. You can only make your room private to stop them.

MemberI don’t think there’s anyway to stop it besides changing your nick. However, I did get the message across one time to a guy by doing this /join where is says write something like “quit following my you creep!” or something stronger, depending on your mood and what suits you attitude. (Also, you don’t want to get the person SO mad that they do something REALLY nasty) Just rude enough to get the point across. Then keep moving by the join method with other negative phrases until the person gets sick of it or gets the method….you just keep moving….let the person know that YOU know the person is following and that YOU will not take it. I hope this works.

MemberIf your talking about them following you from room to room from a chatroom but they dont have you on thier friendslist, then just get out of chat then go back to another room. Cuz if you just keep change’n rooms the follow user continues, but if you leave chat completely then go in angain its reset and the following is stoped. But if they have you on thier friendslist they can just *join user in chat*.

MemberQuestion…if someone is following you into chat, do you know? Do you get a message that “so and so” is following you?

No Mariette, nothing is sent to you the one being followed. I just dont go from one room to another. I close out of chat and then go back in to another room.

MemberTo see if you’re being followed (like in real life) make stupid movements, like going from one place to another and back again, to see if the follower does the same.
Like snugleupagainst said, leaving chat breaks the follow, but some 3rd party clients it doesn’t, they retain the following information, and as soon as you’re back on chat, you’re followed again (for example YahELite polls every few seconds to see if the user is in chat, until you type /nofollow).
There is really no way to stop it, and reporting abuse is a waste of your time, because Yahoo! just don’t care.

ParticipantThis is a large load of garbage on Yahoo’s end. How are they are trying to stop violation of people’s privacy when they are the ones creating it?
This feature should be removed, or at least optional by the user. If Yahoo wants to stop harassment by their members, they should take more action in stopping it them selves.-very %&*)@ off and upset-detn8r
Oh and one more thing… if Yahoo doesnt care about his type of harassment, maybe I should pick up on booting people, and keep asking people for their pictures, or asking to see them nude, or send them numerious web cam invites to flood them. :/

MemberYahoo’s servers don’t actually implement the follow feature, the client software does by using the goto feature (implemented on the server).
Yahoo! really don’t care because we don’t pay. Although this is true, they DO get paid by advertisers, so it’s not like they are just running the servers as a hobby. And if users get bored and move on, the advertisers sure will be affected and they will care and withdraw from yahoo!
