I heard somewhere that it’s possible to view previous AIM conversations somehow without clicking “Save” on the IM Window.

sloppyjoe – it is possible, but not by default. you need some kind of logging software or add-on program to do so. the link provided by DragonSlayerz has a list of several programs that have logging functionality.
if you do not have such a program or addon installed already, you cannot view past conversations. AIM does not save conversations itself.
