How do you open 2 programs with 1 icon with windows xp?
do you mean launching two files/programs with one shortcut? one way to do this is by using a batch file. a batch file is basically a text file that has commands in it. the following code (when saved as baseball.bat) will launch notepad and ms paint.
once you have created the file, just save it to your My Documents folder. then add a shortcut to the file on your desktop (right click>>send to>>desktop). what you can then do is add a nice little icon to it (right click on the shortcut>>properties>>shortcut tab>>change icon button).
obviously you will want to launch two usefull files with this. you can modify it to your hearts desire. the following will launch AIM and notepad then exit itself.
notice the quotes around the AIM directory. windows likes to use directories that have spaces in them, which is a problem (stupid, i know). anyway, just remember to quote your space-ridden directories.
you can do some fancy stuff with batch files. read all about it at Rob van der Woude’s Scripting Pages. great site with lots of interesting information.
wow thanks it worked! this is a very useful tool.
