How long are you signed onto IRC daily?

I don’t think nerd is the right term. I prefer computer geek, infact most of us do. A nerd and a geek are 2 totally different things.

lol I use to have a shell account too. But that was before life became real. Got married and moved countries. Haven’t been on irc since I moved. And to think I use to joke “real life?! what’s that?”

I am signed in 24/7, but in reality spend less than an hour and a half physically in front of the PC, chatting on IRC.

It has been about a year since I started this thread, however currently I am logged into our irc.bigblueball.com IRC server 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

Heh, whenever I’m at uni with my permanent connection, I’m on all day too (even if I’m not physically in front of the computer). Things are a bit different when I’m at home with my crappy modem though 🙁

i picked to nerd one, tho i’m sure this topic is outdated, I would like to agree, nerds and geeks are different, usually you hear “computer geek” but geeks are only social outcasts, whereas nerds are smart…it doesnt make sense really but w/e….

I keep it connected 24/7, but normally pay attention to it for 1 hour a day.
I liked it more before.

2-3 hours. I use chatzilla, so, sometimes it gets signed off.
But of the 2-3 hours, i’m only really there about 1.5 hours. and i’m only on 1 channel.

I’m logged into EFnet 24/7 in #BitchX
I’m logged into DALnet about four hours a day in the evenings in a private channel.
I run a small, non-linked IRC server “on demand” for a group of private friends several times per week.

I use BitchX for Win32, an older version of mIRC, Trillian Basic and TekNap to log into IRC servers. I downloaded a standalone Identd program for those occasions when I IRC with TekNap on the odd chance that mIRC isn’t running.

Napster protocol servers don’t count, right?
If so, I’m also 24/7 administrating and chatting with TekNap, and on rare occasions might use the Napster ver.2b7 client.

Admitting that you have a problem is the first step. I have no problem.

Well the only IRC I go to is BigBlueBall’s and I usually stay for an hour although a few times 2 hours. The people are cool. I wish more people showed up there though.

i would have marked the “i’m a geek” one, but i have this pesky little thing called a job. so that keeps me busy from 9-5… when i get home one of the first things i do is fire up my computer and sign on IRC (irc.bigblueball.com:6667 #bigblueball of course)
