Dear friends,
A few days ago, I bought a Logitech QuickCam Messenger for my home computer. I already installed and it is working well with MSN Messeger.
Now, I just wanted to use the camera with only one contact, but the other can see that I have camera. My questions are:1. How can I hide the camera to the rest of my contacts?
2. How can I limit (restrict) the camera to only one contact? I don’t want to share the camera with other contacts and I should avoid that my sister use the camera with my other contacts.
My operating system is Windows XP Pro with SP2.
Regards!

In the main messenger window go to Tools>Options>Security . Do you have the “this computer is shared” option enabled? If this is enabled maybe it is the reason that everyone can see your webcam.

To hide the camera from ALL your contacts:
1) Click on Tools in the menu next to “File” “Contacts” “Actions”
2) Click on Options
3) Click on Personal
4) Near the bottom of the Options dialog you’ll see “My Webcam”, UNTICK the box next to “Allow others to see that I have a webcam”Now no one on your contact list will know that you have a webcam. You should still be able to invite your contacts to use it whenever you want though.
As for your second question, I don’t believe you can restrict the usage of Webcam to certain contacts yet.
Hope this helps.

OS – windows XP sp2, wlm version 8.1August 4, 2007 at 12:00 am #125562detn8rParticipantI’ve had this issue my self, personally where WLM will display that other contacts have a webcam, when they do not.
I’m not sure if this is a bug, or perhaps another application is interfering.
