How to delete an AIM account?

I want to cancel my aim account. could somebody please refer me to an useful program. thank you.

I believe you can go to AIM’s website and configure it from there.

you can’t do anything about that from the AIM site… you may want to check out this topic

i dont think TestBuddy (as mentioned in that topic) works anymore. i might be mistaken. in any case, the short story is that you can’t really cancel or delete AIM accounts through a program or a website or anything. your best hope is to simply remove the account from your computer by highlighting the screenname in the login box and pressing Delete, then never signing into it again. supposedly, under AIM’s policies, it will be deleted and made publicly available after ____ number of months, but that doesn’t seem to be enforced at all.

so… basically you can’t cancel. just dont use it.

i need 2 know how 2 delete an AIM account for it dosent pop up when i turn on my computer….and i just dont want this account how do i?

Short story is, you can’t cancel an AIM account really, but you can set it so that it doesn’t “pop up” when you turn on your computer.

Sign into AIM (I don’t think you have to use the account in question, just any account) and go into the Options screen. Somewhere in there should be an option to “start up with windows” or “start when i turn on the computer” — I don’t know the exact wording, but it’s pretty obvious. Uncheck that box, then save your changes and sign out of AIM.

You should see the sign-in box. Use the dropdown to select the user account you want to remove from your computer and just hit your Delete key. That account will be removed from your AIM window.
