Hi everyone,
I have a question about Pidgin. On most, but not all chats, with a buddy, if I open a window in Pidgin to initiate a conversation, a message will appear that says “(user) is now known as (nickname)”. And, this appears in the chat window. apparently in my buddy’s window as well. I’ve had a chat buddy inquire as to why “I” send this message, but it’s automatic.
This becomes a privacy issue if I accidentally click on a buddy’s chat window and it initiates a convo, it apparently sends this message. Therefore, does anyone know how to disable this in Pidgin? I’ve tried the “remove detailed information”, but the message still generates. And, it does not appear to post while using YIM (Yahoo Messenger), only while using Pidgin.
Thanks so much for any help.
