im sure most of you now how to
m just a noob
but i wanna know because i need to know if some1 m chatting w
is really telling the truth bout theyr locationi was thinking this could consist of two steps
1. get their ip
2. trace their ip w anodr ware to get their locif im right, how do i do thos things?

Basically what you need is Command Prompt which every computer has,go there and type netstat and hit enter.That will give you the Ip addresses,ports and some other stuff that your computer is connected to…Now there were a few aditional commands but i cant remember them right now,best thing is to see the help file on NETSTAT.Which of course you can also find on your computer at Help 🙂
Next thing you do is figure out which ip is the one you want,that is if you’re talking to more people and so on and then go on the net and look for a site like http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm type in the ip you want and voila!There you have it.I need to tell you that this isnt going to get you anywhere as many IP’s are located in Washington for example cause thats where the Internet provider who gave the user its IP is located or so..for example american army in Irak,they all have IP’s in Washington…What i’m trying to say is that the method is silly and so are the results.I dont know what your purpose with this might be but dont expect big things to happen 🙂

The fact is you shouldnt and wont need to find anybodies ip address from chat and shouldnt even bother.
If you’re new finding the ip will make little difference as you dont know what to do with it.
IP tracing is tracing to a exchange, not the persons computer so don’t be delusional to the fact you found their exact location.
On a lighter note some pm’s (added buddies only) may be p2p and show ip but thats not required to be and most the time you will get a yahoo relay servers ip.
So for all the people out there thinking they can get IP’s from chatters and do anything need to stop been delusional as the only people who will have the right IP’s and the power to do anything about it is Yahoo!.
End of story.
Just another addition to this post.
Over the years yahoo has changed the way we do certain things.
For instance, when you pm, view cam, or voice conference, etc. You connect to a server. So when you get an IP you are going to get Yahoo’s server IP.
On rare occasions when the servers are connected you will get the person’s IP.
In order to get an IP you need to connect P2P (peer to peer) with someone.
If they have a program that disallows any P2P connections, then you will never get their IP.
Regardless of your reason, getting someone else’s IP wont do much for you. Consider the posts above, its really hard to get other’s IP, plus there are many ways to hide one’s true IP.
