How to install Yahoo skins

I downloaded a Yahoo skin called Waterfall from one of the sites mentioned here (forgot which one). I unzipped the ZIP file and put all the BMPs in a folder called waterfall in the skins folder. Is this the right way to install a skin?

You can find a bunch of skins for Yahoo at http://www.mxskinz.com

Here’s how you install a skin:

Well, how DO I install yahoo skins? I have been told to put them in Yahoo/shared/graphics. And I’ve also been told to unzip them into Yahoo/messenger/skins/(name of skin).
Since I have skins in both places (hee hee) I don’t know where the correct place really is. Some of the skins I have in the graphics folder work and some don’t even show up.
Woe is me. Please help. lol

This thread is talking about how to install skins on old versions of Yahoo, anything v. 5 and earlier. For versions 6 and 7, they go in C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics. Skins for earlier versions (5 and below) won’t work with the newer versions (6 and 7) of messenger, and vice versa. To tell the difference, open up the skin folder. Newer skins have many more images (about 65 – 70), a few .rgn files, and an xml file, older skins just have *maybe* 10 or so bmp files.
