I’m using the Australian one and noone else can see my AIM Expressions. Is there any way I can let them see it?
no
Course not! Unless you make them download the AIM expression, there is no way they can see it. AIM Xpressions are Client-Side; you have to remember that one. 😉 If everyone had every existing AIM expression, we’d all have to have drives with a few terabytes of space on them.
The answer is no, but Shadowcrest isn’t exactly right. If you are an AOL user or you pay for AIM expressions, then others will be able to see them without having to do anything. However, with the austrailian expressions or creating your own expressions the person must download them. I believe, even if they download it, it won’t show up only when they are talking to you, as you have it configured. It would if you paid for it. If it is an “unofficial” expression it must be configured and seen independently on each computer. The smileys on the austrailian versions should work if the person has AOL or a high enough version of AIM (5.2 I think)
i have a similar question only backwards lol, my friend has aol and has an expression I DO NOT want to see the extra space on the IM just makes it bulky is there anyway to turn off the expression
There should be an option somewhere in prefrences not to accept expressions. It varies from version to version so I can’t tell you specifically. If you tell me what version what you are using I might be able to help. I know you can at the very least turn off the sounds and buddy icon with any version, you should be able to turn off the expression – I agree it is very annoying.
