Step 1: In the main Messenger window, go to File > Save Contact List… Choose a name for the contact list file, and a location to save it in.
Step 2: Open Microsoft Word (It works best in this as it does not display any of the code [in the .xml file], but you can use virtually any text editor, even Notepad, and you can even view this file in IE).
Step 3: Go to File > Open in MS Word.
Find and open the file. [You may need to select “All Files” in the “Files of type:” drop-down box to be able to view it.Step 4: Click on Open, and there you go. A complete list of all your contacts’ e-mail addresses.
Although this feature of Messenger is meant to be used for backup, it can also be used for this reason, for example if you wanted to add your contacts to an e-mail address book.

Has anyone checked out Messenger Backup? It’s supposed to automatically create a backup of your friend lists and more, not only for MSN but also ICQ, Yahoo and AIM.
