I have two AIM screennames. I always have all sounds turned off for them both. However, suddenly today when I signed on to one of them, I got the doorslam sound. I signed off and tried again and got it again every time. On the other account, I still get no sounds, just as I like it.
I checked all the settings I could and even looked through the registry trying to find a way to make it so I hear no sound when I sign on to the one account. But I can't figure out any way to turn it off, nor do I see any setting that isn't already set to no sounds.
Is there any setting I'm missing or even a way in the registry to make it silent when I sign on? I don't even understand why the sound is happening since it wasn't happening before and I don't see any different settings between the two accounts.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Can anyone help with this issue? Still can't find any way to fix it.
Steve, if you are unable to fix this issue via the sound preferences window, you might try uninstalling and reinstalling your AIM client.
I tried removing and reinstalling my client. But no change. It still slams upon sign in on that account. It's odd because I don't even see a specific setting for sounds upon sign in. There are options for sounds on sending or receiving messages and many other events. But none specifically asking if you want a sound on sign in.
Even so, I have every sound I can possibly set on “No Sounds” and my other screenname, with the exact same settings, has no sound on sign in.
Any other ideas please? This is a real mystery!
