How to take out ads?

How do u take out ads on aim 5.2. I did what it said to do, but the add is still on my buddy list. It says rent dvds for free. which ad is it supposed to take out?

are u using an add-on that removes adds? and if u r, which one?

Almost all aim addons get rid of ads. If you arent using a aim addon I suggest getting one, they automatically delete all ads. But if you did it the manual way make sure you did it right. Here’s the directions.

1. Go to wherever you installed AIM (usually c:program filesaim95)
2. Delete the file “advert.ocm”
3. Make a copy of “admin.ocm”
4. Rename the copy of “admin.ocm” to “advert.ocm”

What is aim adon. Is it a patch that i can then unistall, Also what ads does this get rid of?

By AIM addon he means a program designed to enhance AIM such as AIM+, DeadAIM, or AIMutation.

But what ad is supposed to go away so i know if im doing it right. I want to get ride of the one on top of my buddy list

It will remove the ad on top of your buddy list window.

OK, Then why not go get DeadAIM3.2 – https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4533#27945 that will remove the ads…Sometimes it works in 5.2, sometimes not, give it a shot…

But my computer doesn’t have much space and i don’t want to ad another program to it.
