MemberI’d been looking for a way to save the doodles of my girlfriend and I for a while and someone told me about snag-it http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2192-10004813.html
Nice! i recommend it… it’s free for a trialanyone know any other ones that are free indefinitely (no trial period)?

KeymasterYou can also create capture the entire screen to your clipboard using Shift-PrtScrn. From there you can paste into your favorite image editor and crop as necessary. Not quite as convenient as SnagIt, but it’s free. 🙂

MemberPress alt-PrntScrn to only capture the window, this might be a little more easy.

ParticipantUsing the Print Screen function simply puts an image capture into your systems clipboard. Once captured you then have to paste it somewhere using ctrl+v – In this case an Image-Editing program such as Paint or Photoshop.

MemberAlong with using the (to capture the entire screen) or Alt- (to capture just the active application window) I recommend that you use a freeware program called “IrfanView” available at http://www.irfanview.com.
It is probably the absolute best graphic viewer/converter/basicEditor/screenCapture/etc. tool available.
Once you have captured your screen or application window you can simply paste (^v) into an open IrfanView window, then save it into any of dozens of graphic formats. IrfanView can read over 60 graphic/sound and movie formats.Even easier, you can use the IrfanView Capture routine, and immediaty save via a hotkey (default is ctrl-F11, but you can change it).
IrfanView is a tool that I put on every computer I use. It is small enough to even run from a floppy, if you need that portability, since you don’t need to install it (there are no registry changes).
Really, really great. Really fast. Really free. -
