Hello Forum!
Can anyone tell me how we can check other persons’ IP to whome we are chatting using MSN MessengerFebruary 11, 2004 at 1:07 am #49981imported_EvilSephMemberAlright..here goes.
There are a couple of ways to go about doing this…,
First way is probably the easiest way..but you have to be good with social engineering unless the person wants you to know their IP… anyway, all you have to do for this method is convince them/ask them to type (!IP) in their conversation window and press enter or click send. The only downside with that is that your contact HAS TO HAVE Messenger Plus!
Secondly, with the new MSN Messenger 6x series, it is now possible to acquire a persons’ IP address by just asking them to download a file this is courtesy of the new mini-file-preview feature of the MSN Messenger 6x series. It allows you to acquire their IP address, because you’re making a connection to them just by sending them the preview which MSN Messenger 6x automatically does when you send someone a file.
This urr..feature? also applies to custom emoticons. Custom emoticons are sent to your contact, which in turn opens up a connection to their computer, thus making it possible to acquire their IP just by sending them a custom emoticon. Not sending them like file-sending, but sending them by just using the custom emoticon in a conversation.
Read this — Note it’s a word document, but I’ve opened it many times..and I trust the authour. If you don’t, then don’t open it :).
Last, you can send someone a file, once the transfer has initiated you can use netstat.
Once a transfer is initiated, go to your start menu –> run and type
netstat -nonce you’ve done that a dos prompt should pop up that shows you a list of your current active connections. (However this may cause a dos prompt to popup and then disappears, if that is so, open a dos prompt first, then execute the command in there.)
For more information about netstat and a list of parameters take a look at here

Thanks,
