March 10, 2005 at 2:08 am #116629gossipingrae

ParticipantNope, I’m pretty sure you can’t. If HTML was enabled in these forums, it would probably get out of hand.

Participantthe admins disabled html, probably because yeah, it would get out of hand. its already really easy for people to change their font and color if they wish (although it gets annoying), html is pretty much just unnecessary. vbCode allows just about anything you would ever need to post – links, pictures, colors, etc.

ParticipantKeep in mind that you don’t have to use the forum code; vBulletin has an easy post tool that’s almost like a word processor (That is, unless, you’re using the Quick-reply feature).

Membercuteb0mberchick wrote:vBcode and html code looks the same thing to me, except their tags are kind of differentAnother big difference is that vBulletin’s forum code only supports a few HTML directives. If we’d support HTML (which also brings javascript and css) on the forums fully, it would be possible for someone with bad intentions to change the looks and layout of the entire website, or just simply break it. 🙂We don’t disable HTML because we don’t think you’re worth it. We disable HTML because otherwise it would open a whole new can of security issues.

Do you mean the vB Code for displaying HTML Code like this :
BigBlueBall.com
That doesn’t let you post using HTML code, but simply displays HTML code unrendered in a post. It’s completely different from allowing HTML code to be used for formatting.March 12, 2005 at 6:45 pm #116633cuteb0mberchick
Membernope, i meant the little box below on the left it says vB code is On, Smilies are On,
code is On, and HTML code is off <—

KeymasterOh, you mean under the Posting Rules! Yes, HTML code has been turned off because it represents a security risk. Most of what you could need to do in your posts can be done with vB code anyways.

Well, it’s there to tell you that if you try to post using HTML code it won’t work. Just use vB Code okay? -
