Hey all. I don’t know if I’m the only member here that lives in South Florida or not but as you all know we’re going to be getting hit by a hurricane early saturday and we’ve all prepared. It’s a category 4 and the worst part is that it’s moving slow so that means we might have to deal with the 145mph winds for 16hrs according to the newscasters. Keep us in your prayers or if you don’t pray then wish us the best here. I hope to be seeing you all again soon sometime after this whole thing. You all take care.

September 5, 2004 at 8:17 pm #38771Jeff HesterKeymasterHey all I’m back!
Well luckily the Hurricane went from a category 4 to a category 1 now and it hit us here at category 2 and it was just a lot of wind but not as bad as other hurricanes. Power went out for a while and some down cables but nothing serious. No hurricane related deaths or anything! It’s good to be back and thanks for whoever was praying and all. Right now the effects are being felt in Orlando. This hurricane is pretty much the size of the whole state but at best (if you can say that) is that it’s a category 1. You all take care. 🙂
September 5, 2004 at 8:41 pm #38775OreoMemberIt’s great to know things worked out relatively well for you. Let’s hope the rest of the state fares as well. I hope you got to attend a hurricane party or two. 🙂
September 5, 2004 at 9:04 pm #38777Someguy03MemberWelcome back, wouldn’t wanna lose any BBB members to a hurricane. 😉

By the way, glad you’re back in one peice, kid.
September 8, 2004 at 8:28 am #38774BrianMemberThe news said that there had been 18 deaths in Florida and Georgia, I didn’t pay attention where the deaths were.
The hurricane did affect neighboring states like Georgia with downed trees and flooding. Many of schools mostly in Florida and the southern part of Georgia have been closed yesterday (Tuesday) and today due to power outages.
There is another hurricane (Ivan) expected to invade Florida (possibly neighboring states as well) next week.
September 8, 2004 at 3:08 pm #38772Jeff HesterKeymasterIt’s a Hurricane fever, these things just won’t stop. This is crazy. I hope we don’t get hit by another one. As much as I dislike college I rather have class then have the teachers cram everything we’re supposed to learn into one week and then give an exam out but most importantly these things are dangerous and some people are already without homes. Well time to go hunting for food and gas. Take care all.
As for RabidKitten, could you be a little more clear as to what you mean? Remember I’m “slow” unless you’re trying to take a crack shot about the word dork in dorky…God help us all!
September 8, 2004 at 9:55 pm #38779RabidKittenParticipant*smirk* Honey, if you can’t figure that out, you’re lacking. It’s about as close as I come to a compliment. It’s either heinously cryptic or glaringly blatant, so I can then deny it and call it “joking” later on. It’s my safety net *thumbs up*
But of course, I should’ve known better than to choose the cryptic route. It’s only natural that the red wolves of the world are “slow”, as you put it. *smirk* Once again, so cryptic.

September 13, 2004 at 11:51 am #38780QwertyMemberDoes anyone know what the difference is between a hurricane, a cyclone and a typhoon is? 😉
September 13, 2004 at 1:25 pm #38785amy_d_gParticipantfrom weather.com
Quote:quote: HURRICANE – The name for a tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 74 miles per hour (65 knots) or greater in the North Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and in the eastern North Pacific Ocean. This same tropical cyclone is known as a typhoon in the western Pacific and a cyclone in the Indian Ocean. -
