I’ve had the chance in a couple of forums to recommend HyperIM to solve a few particular member feature requests/questions, but I’d like to hop on my soapbox for just a moment and tell you a little more about it.
First, it’s a FREE multi-client status changer and manager. You can have up to 16 million saved statuses! I’ve not personally tested to see if it really goes this high but I’ll take their word for it. It works with Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, 8.1 or older, MSN Messenger / Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Skype, Trillian, Miranda IM, and Xfire. You can manage your status for any or all of these at the same time with a single click.
It also supports “Now Playing” information for 26 different media players, has over 40 plugins (most of which download as a part of the installation package) including the ability to customize many status messages with extendable macros. There are lots of other features such as multiple skinning options, etc. but you’ll have to go to the HyperIM site and check them out for yourself.
The documentation is a little limited other than a basic start out tutorial. However, as they point out – there is extensive information available in the forums, and for basic users who aren’t trying for all the bells and whistles…it’s not rocket science, it’s pretty simple to use.
If you decide to give it a try let me know what you think!!
