Hyperlinks in chat windows not working

when i cut and paste a hyperlink url and it’s on the yahoo chat window, my girlfriend can’t get it to work by clicking on it… she has to copy&paste it from there into her browser 🙁
How to get the hyperlinks to work??

Start, Settings, Control panel.
Internet Options.
Select the programs tab.
Select reset web settings, you can remove the check from the reset home page.
Click OK.

When you restart messenger, or sometimes with immediate effect, it works again.
