Every time I log into yahoo messenger, and try to access the menu or chat with one of my friends, I automatically get logged off. Most of the time an error message involving the yahoo pager shows up. I have tried restarting my comp, removing yahoo messenger, reinstalling messenger…I still have this problem. has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I can do?

In the meantime, try using Yahoo’s java version. Go here: http://messenger.yahoo.com/ then click the Java link on the left. It will run messenger in a new browser window and should work for you until you get the other problems ironed out.

July 1, 2002 at 9:43 pm #101627swimrMemberI actually downgraded my yahoo messenger to 3.5 and it works! Ideally I would like to use the newer version. I am running XP pro, 256 MB ram (i think) and 900 mhz.
July 1, 2002 at 10:09 pm #101626Jeff HesterKeymasterThat’s cool. I know that Messenger 5 works with XP (that’s what I’m running on two different PCs). You should eventually get an upgrade notice from Yahoo. Some people have reported that downgrading, then updating (when they get the notice from Yahoo) has cleared up their 5.0 problems.
