Beginning yesterday, the adult chat rooms are not listed in Messenger. (I have 2 other yahoo ID’s and they DO list adult rooms.) At first I thought this had to do with some setting on my computer but I have the same problem when using another computer. I am thinking that this is a problem with my account on the yahoo servers.
Any ideas?
Yes…first of all I would like to know if that ID is from the UK and Ireland servers. The UK messenger users are no longer allowed to access user created rooms and adult profiles. To get around this you can do one of two things…
1. Install the US version of messenger ( see this page for more info http://www.doc-rocks-dungeon.com/chathelp7.htm )
2. You can also access these rooms and profiles if you have created your Yahoo ID at http://profiles.yahoo.com and not the co.uk counterpart.
Either of these will correct the problem.
I am running the US version of messenger. I had a friend log in to his account here and he can access adult rooms, with the same version of messenger.

make a tottaly new account with your age more than 18 eg:
07/19/45
and try log into the account
if that dont work try these methods…:)
uninstall yahoo
find the yahoo folder in c:program files and delete that
then download the new version from yahoo
now try and access the adult rooms…:)
I can create a new account and I can access the rooms fine. This only happens with one yahoo ID.
This problem happens with different versions of messenger on different computers. I don’t think reinstalling yahoo will help. This is not a problem on my computer.
maybe the yahoo Id you have is Underage…
meaning you cant access adult rooms.. I tried to do this once too I had to make another acount because you can NOT edit you birthday…
I thought of the underage thing. So to check it out I filled out the form for a lost password, which requires the exact birthdate. I was able to reset my password, which means they have the correct birthdate, which means they consider me an adult.
I am having the same issue – cannot see adult chat rooms with one yahoo ID while others can view them fine. Did anyone ever find a fix for this? Am using Yahoo Messenger 5.6. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no luck. It has happened before and usually returns in a day or so, but this has been a few days now.

I have seen this problem multiple times and as 912 says earlier, the fix is 2 uninstall Messenger, delete the Yahoo! folder (deleting just the /Messenger subfolder also works) and reinstall.
I never noticed any difference with 1 ID or multiple, nor creating a new ID. It has something 2 do with Registry entries that get corrupted.
try this :
-logon to messenger,
– go to http://chat.yahoo.com, sign is with your account
– choose your category like romance, adult,… ,
– in the yellow line choose for messenger before you choose the room you wantnow the communication starts with your local messenger.
I tried this and it worked

i’ve just encountered this problem too.
i signed in with my usual account but for some reason adult rooms no longer appear on the menu.
i logged on with a different account and can access them fine.
