Hiya everyone!
My MSN messenger is not working, I have 5.0. I can’t seem to sign in, a error message is brought up saying “Signing into .Net Messenger service is temporarily unavailabe. Please try again later”.
All the systems are going, so I don’t understand why mine isn’t working.
Could anyone help me out here?
Holly.June 13, 2003 at 11:13 pm #94981DavidParticipantYou behind a router or firewall?
June 14, 2003 at 1:47 am #94980FaizanMemberJust try again, .NET service is sometimes unavaiable, but if you try the next day, it does work!
June 14, 2003 at 2:43 pm #94988hollyr120022002MemberDave,
I have Norton Anti-virus installed, a firewall comes up sometimes when a file is about to be downloaded. However, there is no appearance of this when I attempt to sign in to MSN messenger 5.0.
Faizan,
I’ve tried every day for over a week now and it has not been signing in.
Help!
Holly.June 14, 2003 at 8:35 pm #94978AnnaParticipantHave you tried signing in another account on your MSN?
Was it successful? If not, would a re-installation of MSN Messenger be out of the question?
June 14, 2003 at 9:19 pm #94989hollyr120022002MemberWindaphoner,
Yes, I have tried signing in on another account on my MSN messenger 5.0. No, it still will not let me sign in, and is throwing up the same error message.
I have re-installed MSN messenger 5.0 many times, by totally deleting all the files attached and MSN messenger 5.0 itself. Still no success.
Can anyone help out?
HollyJune 14, 2003 at 9:24 pm #94979AnnaParticipantQuote:quote:by totally deleting all the filesHave you tried properly uninstalling MSN? (ie. Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs)
Also, what kind of connection are you on? Do you run any P2P applications simultaneously while trying to sign in?
June 15, 2003 at 3:12 am #94984hammerMemberi have the exact same problem!!!!!!!!!!!i can sign into hotmail.com however i cant sign into msn with that same email, so i went into my other email and told my contacts that i cant sign in on my main account and they said ‘yeah you got deleted from my list’ the only strange thing was that they didnt delete it, it got deleted automatically
June 15, 2003 at 3:17 am #94983hammerMemberi have been getting the same ‘temporarily not working’ error for about 3 weeks, at first i thought i as hacked but i can still check my hotmail—
solution-get a new email and readd all your contacts like i did
June 15, 2003 at 9:38 pm #94987hollyr120022002MemberYes, I have completely deleted MSN messenger 5.0 and all the files attached with it. Yes, by going to Start, Settings, Control Panel,Add or remove programs. I’ve installed it and yet no success.
I am currently using Freeserve Broadband, and no, no P2P programs are run while I try to sign into MSN messenger 5.0.
Anyone else have a different solution?

What Operating system do you have? If you have XP or ME you can do a system restore and roll your computer back a few days. It has done wonders for me and problems. Remember to restore it to a time before you noticed the problem happening.

June 16, 2003 at 6:47 am #94986hammerMemberi think its got nothing to do with your computer, but its the MSN MEssenger server or something, which is out of our control
June 16, 2003 at 5:43 pm #94977Jeff HesterKeymasterOne question, and one suggestion….
First the question: Did MSN Messenger 5.0 previously work for you? If so, has anything changed around the time it stopped working (network configuration, new software, etc.)?
And now the suggestion: You mentioned that you’re using a router. Try configuring MSN Messenger to use a proxy, and use the internal IP of the router as the proxy address. This sometimes solves connections problems with routers, but would only make sense if it didn’t previously work with your current router/software configuration.
June 17, 2003 at 4:57 am #94985hammerMemberit doesnt matter whayt version it is, i have tried to sign in on msn6,msn5 and windows4, it has nothing to do with what our comps are or the specs i think its a problem with microsoft
