When I use Yahoo Messenger and I want to sign out, I always use ‘sign out of Yahoo Messenger and exit’ feature but everybody can still see me as if I were online (yellow face). What can I do ?
Do you do “disconnect” THEN sign out of yahoo and exit? I know it’s silly to say, but sometimes its tiny things like that, that we overlook, sensibly thinking that if you signout and exit it should turn off your light but doesn’t really work with yahoo!. Uh… also there are rumors of messenger status thing being a bit off lately. Does this happen usually or happened recently?
Also, maybe you can try going into yahoo webpage (profile and things) and sign off there too. I don’t know if this works with messenger, but i remember in the early days before I learnt to set my online status as invisible (in profile section) if I didn’t sign out from yahoo web, if someone checked my profile, it would show as online.
thanks for answering my message. i tried both ways but nothing. it happens only with this id. i have another one, which is ok. i’m not sure when it started but i noticed only some time ago.
I had the same thing happen to me a few days ago. I was even signed in with my personalised status message. I saw this from another account and it was only happening with the one I use most often. So, I changed my password for that account and it’s not happening anymore. Perhaps it was coincidental…and perhaps not. Give it a try. Good Luck
Have you searched your PC for trojans and viruses with an updated program?? Do you have a firewall or anything else running when you use Messenger?? Also, even if all of this fails…..it might not be ANYTHING that YOU are doing…Yahoo! has these little glitches every-so-often….and that just makes it Yahoo!. Good luck.

I also had this problem awhile back…someone told me to go to chat through yahoo home page. When chat comes up click on sign out[/b]. It may say you are not signed in but do it anyway. It showed me not signed in. It worked immediately for me. Hope this helps! 🙂

just try going into invisible mode and ask your frnds if they can see you!! if they cant then just go to invisible mode before disconnecting!!!
also try this with other ID’s also… do they have the same problem??? Just try and let us know….Do you have Yahoo messenger 5.6 installed?? This is happening in Yahoo 5.6. Revert to 5.5 as discussed in other topics. Hope it works 😉
