My old hard drive is this.

The connectors on my new computer are a bit shorter and the blank spot in the prongs is near the right or left so it won’t hook up.
What are those two differences called so I know what “kind” of hard drive enclosure to get?
That picture shows Parallel ATA (PATA, also known as IDE or just ATA) pins. Most new drives and motherboard connections are Serial ATA (SATA). I’m not sure you’re describing an SATA connector, though:

Can you take a picture of that too?
Ugh I’m so stupid the only free connector in my motherboard is a floppy drive connector, that’s what it was, I know that. I just forgot.
Anyway the problem however remains my old drive isn’t compatible plus I got one of those Hard Drive USB enclosures and it wasn’t compatible with Vista so I’m gonna return it man this is causing me a lot of anxiety.
same thing happened to me.
