Now that I am actually doing schoolwork, Ive found myself having to use Word. Is there anyway to turn off the features where when you number something then press enter it makes the next number and, the thing when you type in the wrong date (on purpose) it changes it. Also what is the deal with when go back and edit it deletes the next character in the sentence? How stupid is that. I would like to use wordperfect but I have been doing my work on my old laptop, so I cant.
Thanks.
The only thing I can think of right now to fix is the overtyping. The easyest way to chang it is to press the Insert button on your keyboard or click Tools->Options then click the Edit tab and in the first column it should say “Overtype”. Uncheck that. If I can think of anything else to fix your problem I’ll reply again.
I hope this helps.
Overtyping can be enabled/disabled by simply pressing the ‘Insert’ button. There is no need to go into the menu. The status for overtyping can be found in Microsoft Word’s status bar, at the bottom. As for the automatic numbered list, have a look at this article from Microsoft.
As for the automatically correcting words as you type, go to Tools > Options > Spelling & Grammar (tab) > Uncheck “Check words as you type.”
