i’ve been having some overheating problems w/my laptop over the last year and a half and i cant take it anymore and i was wondering if there was a program or some way out there to check the processor temp. and if there was a way to fix this problem to quit making it over heat without sending it into Dell…i have a Dell Inspiron 1100 if that helps anyone…thanks.
February 11, 2005 at 4:33 pm #114312kyuubiMemberDo you have a ASUS board?…if you are than ASUS have their own Temp monitor…if not than use this one
http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
And for the over heating problem? Dell’s laptop have a reputation of overheating even under normal usage…there is really nothing you can do other than replacing your heat sink an fan….but check if you’re over heating or not. A standered would be when you coumputer is under normal load, shouldn’t be anthing over….50 degress.
Good Luck
February 11, 2005 at 4:59 pm #114308erasedMemberI ran that program just now and was at 49 degree’s ….i may replace the fan/heat sink if i can figure out how to crack the stupid thing open lol
February 11, 2005 at 5:12 pm #114313kyuubiMember49?…..that’s not too hot…..what are you running with the 49 temp?
February 11, 2005 at 7:27 pm #114309neo_ny_23Memberwell my laptop’s case is weird. it freezes every 3 hours of use and I have to restart it again to get it working. My temp usualy hovers around from early 30s to late 40s, and I emailed my customer support, they said it shuld be less than 40 deg cel. I have a Compaq presario 2500.
I am not sure what am going to do with my laptop.February 11, 2005 at 9:58 pm #114314kyuubiMemberit freezes every 3 hours?…..if the temp won’t even go over 50 Degress it for sure is not a overheating….have you check to see if you’re RAM are ok?….maybe it’s a hardware fault somewhere?
February 12, 2005 at 5:43 am #114310neo_ny_23MemberIs there any way to find out how much RAM you are using? I had 512 MB ram, but I have tons of drivers installed onmy computer, so I want to verify how much is it actualy using.
February 12, 2005 at 2:58 pm #114315kyuubiMemberhow much RAM you are currently using?…..just do Ctrl + Alt + Delet and it will bring up the task manager and go to the performence tab and you will see 2 charts. The first 1 is CPU usage and the second is the RAM usage.
–edit–
This is assuming that you are running Win XP
February 12, 2005 at 4:58 pm #114311neo_ny_23MemberWhen I bought my laptop it said, 512 MB RAM, but when I go to My Computer-right click > Properties, it says 448 MB RAM.
By the way, here is the whole picture of my Task-manager>Performance. So, you can have a very good idea whats happening about which I dont have a single clue.February 12, 2005 at 6:08 pm #114316kyuubiMemberthe task manager looks fine…however the fact that it is only displaying 448MGs of available RAM is suspecious….you should check out the RAM to see if it is corrupted or something….
