Hi to all.
My internet explorer hasn’t been working properly lately, whenever I click on it the computer reads for a second and nothing opens.
I clicked my documents and typed in a URL in the search box to use it, which worked, I tried cleaning temporary files, deleting cookies, and deleting the history, but to no avail.
After that, I used the control panel and went to Add/Remove programs and clicked on ‘Add/Remove Windows Components’, I repaired internet explorer but it didn’t work. I also tried uninstalling there, but still nothing happened, it didn’t completely remove internet explorer from the computer.
I am currently obligated to use MSN Explorer, and I don’t have any other explorer other than both MSN EXPLORER and INTERNET EXPLORER in the computer.
Is there any way that I could remove Internet Explorer completely from the computer and then reinstall?
I need serious help, and I’ll really appreciate it if someone did.
I use Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Service Pack(SP) 1.
Thank you very much.

Their was no virus at all.
March 27, 2004 at 3:32 am #47499Mr.Curlynose1MemberJust get Mozilla. Forget IE. Or search your computer for iexplore.exe. See if that works.
March 27, 2004 at 3:44 am #47500Hurricane22491MemberSome newer computers come with CD’s for you to re-install things like that. But I would agree with Mr. Curlynose1. Mozilla Firefox is better ^_^
March 27, 2004 at 3:49 am #47508ScarMemberIs their any way I could get IE back?
Thanks for suggesting other explorers, but I would like to get back IE.
I also used the WindowsXP CD to repair but it didn’t work.
Thanks again.

March 27, 2004 at 3:53 am #47497DavidParticipantI don’t really understand what works and what doesn’t for you. When you double-click on the IE icon from the start menu or desktop, what happens?
Navigate to c:Program FilesInternet Explorer
Now doable click on IEXPLORE.exe, what happens?Do links in IMs and on this message board open in IE or not?
March 27, 2004 at 4:09 am #47506ScarMemberThanks for replying.
I tried all that and already double clicked on IEXPLORE.exe in the Program files/Internet explorer folder, the computer reads for a sec and doesnt open anything. I checked the Process Manager and didnt find IEXPLORER there before and after I double clicked. I am currently using MSN explorer but having back my IE would solve problems I really appriciate your help.
I tried closing MSN Explorer and double clicking links of messages I get on ICQ, but it waits for a second and gives me an error message that says something like ‘The program you tried to use is currently busy, please choose a different program’ and it automatically opens up start and asks me to choose anything else, I tried choosing Internet Explorer again, but it just ignores. So I just choose MSN Explorer.

March 27, 2004 at 5:08 am #47504ScarMemberI tried everything I had to try in the website you gave me, including re-installing, but still it doesn’t work.
Is there any other way?

or you have to format your window xpApril 6, 2004 at 5:54 pm #47502DoSMemberas far as I have learned this has to do something with a corrupted plugin on your Internet Explorer I wont say that I am sure but I think thats the only thing left for you to do and this should do the work. just goto your IE plugins and try to see something suspecious. I dont mean to be rude or something, but I suggest you let someone who knows what he is doing to do this for u, just tell him to disable all plugins > start internet explorer > enable them one by one and then ull know what plugin made your explorer crash and disable it.
Enjoy your IE )April 6, 2004 at 11:28 pm #47501syntaxMemberIE Browser plugins are located in the C:WINDOWSDownloaded Program Files folder. When you open the folder it should default to details view (if not switch to it). Under Status, all of them should say Installed. If any of them says Damaged, you may have to reinstall it.
