MemberOk, here goes. I had been chatting with this guy for sometime and he seemed really cool. We chatted back and forth for about 2 years no problem. About a month ago he was going on about having some program that allowed him to boot people off of chat and also to allow him to view webcams without people knowing it. I started giving him crap and all of a sudden he booted me off. Now I can’t chat on yahoo. I can chat in the actual room, but I can’t do any instant messaging. Does anyone have any idea what this guy has possibly done to me and how I can get my IM back??? I am at my wit’s end. Of course when I log onto my messenger he boots me so now I have to log on as a different user. I KNOW YOU ARE ALL SO SMART OUT THERE….PLEASE HELP ME!!! 🙁 I can’t believe that people can do this to us!!!

MemberI would try downloading Ytunnel to see if that would stop the booting….I am no expert on this and some of the others may have better answers for you. But that is what I would try if it were me.
What do you think gang….would YTunnel Basic do okay?
Here is the link… http://www.ytunnelpro.com/download.php

MemberNo one can secretly view web cams without your permission, irregardless of what ne one says. But booting is another story, anyone who wants to can go and d/l booter programs an boot you. Booting you shouldn’t have any effect on your instant messages, I have never had this problem or remember anyone i know having this problem, doesn’t sound like a yahoo problem to me, if i was you i would uninstall yahoo messenger, then re-install it. That should fix it, and doesn’t really take that much time. You don’t have any yahoo add on programs do you? e.g. ytunnel , or maybe some how you have a firewall and u mistakingly blocked yourself from sending messages.

Does that make a difference? I do have YTunnel and a firewall. I don’t think that I blocked myself, but I am so stupid at this kinda stuff I might have and don’t even know how to fix the problem!!!

Then i misread you, instant messages are sent on messenger, pm’s(private messages) are sent from chat rooms. Most people don’t know the difference. This could be just yahoo, i notice that some nights they just don’t seem to be working, and other nights they are, if you are really wanting to talk to somebody, then you should add them. If someone is on your buddy list, then you will see when they logon/logoff, and the biggest thing is that it will show you in your message box that they signed off. One thing i have noticed is that if someone isn’t on your buddy list, and the sign offline, it doesn’t tell you in the box that they signed off you will just keep talking, and they aren’t there. I wonder if it would make a difference if you would message the person from messenger, instead of from the chat room, i will test this next time i get bored. You might have your pm’s turned off and this is why you can’t talk in pm’s, this could be set on ytunnel if you have it running. Doesn’t sound like anything is really wrong here.

ParticipantI am not sure if this will work but try deleting your “StoredIM” . I am not sure if this will help in your case, but sometimes offline boots stay in your messenger folder and mess it up when you start it. Also, recheck that in your privacy section message only from people on list isnt checked and the only other thing I can think of (other than yahoo! problems, and as johnson said it does happen often) is that it might be your firewall. I tried free version of zonealarm with windowsxp home and i’ve noticed it sometimes stops messages on yahoo or even wouldnt let me join chatrooms, but when i turned it off, all was good again. Just a thought.

MemberMany people I know are and have been having this problem. Even with people on thier friends list. If they are in a room with someone even someone who is on thier list they can’t PM, but if they leave the room they can IM. One lady I had go into her Control Panel and then the Add/Remove Programs (when messenger is off) and choose Y! Messenger BUT just double click it in the list and then choose Repair. This fixed her problem for awhile but then it started happening again. Which leads me to think its actually a Yahoo! problem.

How would I find that…i can’t find anything in YTunnel that I could even change, or I am just not looking in the right place. I do only have the basic version…if that matters. Thanks for your help! 🙂

MemberWhat you can do to test this, is turn ytunnel off, and see if that fixes the problem first off. And if that doesn’t then you know it could be ytunnel an we will work with that, i haven’t had the trial version, but the one i had was very user friendly, all you had to do was click on the icon on the bottom of your screen, for ytunnel, it should be a smiley face i think, i don’t have it anymore, and mess with your options. I never messed with my pm’s so dunno how all you can set them. And if you never messed with the ytunnel settings then im thinkin your pm’s should be on, but who knows, it might of been the default setting, or you could of changed it then forgotten about it.
