MemberI have been using 03 Vers. since it came out and just decided to upgrade to ICQ 5. Well I don’t like the ICQ history on it as I have to click on EACH sentence to save. I can’t just click on History and highlight every sentence by scrolling my mouse. Anyways, just wondering if there a way to do it different, be alot easier? I heard someone saying the history is saved on the computer but where is it saved at?
If anyone knows a eaiser way or if there is a “saved” file on your PC’s HD please let me know. I really like ICQ 5 but the history. Thanks all who replies.

MemberRecent versions of ICQ have message logging off my default. You need to enable global history message logging from Preferences > Saving Options > Save history, it also specifies the location to save the files on the same screen.
Alternatively you can save history for each contact by clicking the yellow H symbol and selecting “Save history for this user” on the screen.

MemberI am currently using ICQ version 5.03 and I wonder in what location is my message history saved. When I enable it from preferenced it pops-up a message: “Please, note that your ICQ history will be stored locally on your computer” but there isn’t said exactly where. Does anyone know ?
And I also wanna ask if there is a way that I add a contact that has just added me but I accidently closed the authorisation window without adding him so I practically don’t know who he is 🙁 …

On my system it seems to be in “C:Documents and Settings(MyUserName)Application DataICQLiteHistoryDB(ICQ#’s)”But this is stored in .XML format, which is hard to understand.
Why not look at history directly through your ICQ5 – there may be an easier way, but try opening a message window for whoever you want to see, then click the “H” in that window.Does this help you ?
By the way, ICQ-Pro has a much more comprehensive and easier Message Archive system, but it seems the 2 versions each keep their own archives separately.

MemberOh, well this “Apllication Data” folder was hidden on my computer that’s why I couldn’t find it. Yes, all the history is there and I can’t just access the history directly from ICQ because I’ve deleted some of the contacts I need the history of.
And I also would like to ask if there is a way to view recently recieved system messages and authorisation requests because sometimes I simply skip them and they disappear.

MemberHave you tried RIGHT-click on “System Notice” ?
For me this brings up “Web Message History” window, that includes an option for “previous month” – though mine is empty, I GUESS because I simply haven’t had any of those while using ICQlite !?

MemberI’ve checked the History Database and I saw that every message sent to me is there. I used an XML converter to read them.
However, there have been times when someone just added me to his contact list withotu sending me any message and because of the he wasn’t stored in the HistoryDB. So I am asking if they have been stored somewhere or not because it pretty sux when I close the authorisation window to not be able to view who previously added me.
And it is not done by right clicking on the “System Notice” because it is always empty. I’ve just been asked for an authorisation and when I clicked on “System Notice” there wasn’t anything in there.
