I have a lot of questions concerning the use of different version of icq and the anonymity regarding exposure of your ip adress and I will be so glad if anyone can help me answer them.
How shall I use icq and not expose my real ip address? I´ve tried installing antifirewall (using anonymous proxies) but if I change the server settings as they say I can´t connect. If I only change the firewall settings in icq I can connect, but I don´t know if my ip really is hidden then. I am behind a firewall but icq has never been a problem using before. Any ideas?
And what about direct connection in icq. I got the idea that it is only when using that(sending files and chatsessions) that you can find out the ip adress by using the netstat command in the command prompt. Is it wrong? Icq2go for example does not allow filetransfer nor chattsessions, does it mean that it doesn´t use direct connection and is secure in an ip adress perspective?? I got the idea that when you are sending messages there you send them via the icq server and that´s the only ip you can find out. I might be completely wrong, if do tell me please!
So basically, what should I do to make sure my ip adress is not exposed using icq?thanks a lot!-Janna

There is no way to use the web / (internet) or whatever you wish to call it… without you expose your IP address, it is the only method used to maintain contact with users.
Every OS has the means to display the IP address of any user that has sent a message.
Without an IP address and the mutual exhange of address’ the web can not function.Quote:quote:So basically, what should I do to make sure my ip adress is not exposed using icq?Dont chat.:D
