MemberHey, I am thinking of rearranging the home page. I’m looking at changing the size of the featured content area and changing it to focus less on “news” stuff and more on the “resource” stuff. The resource stuff doesn’t change as often, and tends to get buried as more new items are added.
I’m also somewhat flustered by the navigation. It’s difficult to find specific resources (I think), although I’d like to hear what the rest of the staff thinks.
I’m a little frustrated that the staff doesn’t use the homepage so much (still). I heard requests in the past that it be more “interesting” and more like neowin.net. I think we’ve done that, although we still don’t get all that much participation there. Did I miss the mark or is there something still missing that keeps you from looking there?

ParticipantI agree that resources tend to get lost. Recently, I remembered seeing the tutorial on choosing an IM (which was the perfect item to insert when a new member asked about it) and I actually had to do a site search to find it – I honestly couldn’t even locate it on the regular pages despite my (brief) efforts to do so. Making these more accessible would be great in IMHO.

I know, I know… any suggestions on how to make it more accessible? Menus? An index?

ParticipantI prefer indexes because generally that means I can see all the available topics and scan to see if something better fits what I want. But a menu can be equally effective if categorized well.

MemberThe Archive page is intended to be a sort of index, but it’s not quite there. I’m going to think about this… I KNOW there is a solution.
