Hello, sorry for my ignorance but I have two questions about Yahoo Messenger:
1 – when the person nick shows up as Idle does it mean the person is not typing and not chatting at the moment? I ask this because sometimes I see some of my buddies as available and if I write a message some of them do not answer and then say they werent there, but I have realized that sometimes they show as Idle. So whats the difference?
2 – Is there a way for a status message appear immediatly to others when I log in and not after I log in and put the message next to my name? I mean, can it just shows automatically? Thanks a lot and sorry for my English. Im not from an english country. 🙂

2. You can set it to appear idle after 1 minute of you not touching your computer. Messenger>Preferences>Privacy>Show me as “idle” if i don’t use the computer for 1 (or any number you want) minutes. That’s the fastest it can be set to show up without having an actual Fake Idle.
Hope that answers your questions.

This has nothing to do with idle…..Thanks a lot again if you can help me in this.

1. They are most likely lying, because it would stay idle unless someone else accidently bumps into their desk causing the mouse to move killing the idleness fast (without them knowing). Other than that, he should be idle if he isn’t there, if it isn’t idle then he should be active.
2. Set it to log in invisible mode then as soon as you log in, write the status you want and put “ok” and it should log you on available immediately with the status you want.
Hope that answers your questions.
February 12, 2006 at 2:40 pm #136428pfeelsMemberNo, it doesn’t mean they are lying … the computer switches over to IDLE after a set amount of time of their not using it … that time could be as long as an hour and a half or as little as a minute depending what their setting is …
Ask your self why would they lie
February 17, 2006 at 10:27 pm #136427HeavenlyMemberoH YES, but if it switches automatically to idle after an hour or so… will the status change to idle or not? Thanks a lot.
