Hey,
For a few months my IE has had problems. Occasionally I’m on a website and it no longer responds. The hourglass cursor shows up, and I’m forced to ctrl alt delete IE 6.0. My brother and I also have this problem: when we shut down the computer, a message pops up saying iexplorer.exe isn’t responding and we have to end that.
Now many believe it is due to spyware on the system, and I do too. However, for months we’ve tried using Ad-aware and SpyBot in addition to Norton Systemworks, and it doesn’t seem to change anything.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks,

Mozilla is good.September 6, 2004 at 8:14 pm #72917detn8rParticipantDo you have all the hotfixes, and updates available from WindowsUpdate?
September 7, 2004 at 1:56 am #72919Road_RunnerMemberUsually the windows update is automatic. I tried to now and I got this error: “Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. You may find the following resources helpful in resolving the problem:”
I went to http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/default.aspx?ln=en-us as always.September 7, 2004 at 5:25 am #72920plastidcellsMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by DeadeyeInstead of fixing this which could mean hard disk format I would suggest you stop using IE.
Mozilla is good.I agree… I’m a fan of firefox myself. But the only drawback is that so many sites out there are amateurly made that any other browser other than IE will not funciton properly… so… ya…
September 7, 2004 at 11:36 pm #72922SpikeMemberI’m not trying to turn this into a big browser argument, but I run Maxthon http://www.maxthon.com/, aka MyIE2. It has the same functionality as IE, but better, with tabbed windows, etc.
September 8, 2004 at 12:52 am #72918DavidParticipantAre you sure Ad-Aware is updated? And have you checked in MSCONFIG for any unknown keys?
And enough with the browser war stuff guys, if the answer for everything is change, nothing ever gets done.
