Alright, i’m running the latest version 8,1,0,209, and yesterday i got a notice of a person whom i put on ignore logging on. (The little box you get on the right lower hand corner of your desktop screen.) Then later i saw another notice of when they logged out… Which i’m pretty sure shouldn’t happen if i have the person on ignore!
So was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with this newest version?

December 17, 2006 at 1:55 pm #155454vingsMemberGawd! Sometimes i get a pop up window that says “You Can’t Ignore Yourself”
Suggestions and advise would be welcome!December 17, 2006 at 2:52 pm #155447Jeff HesterKeymasteryes you mean in chat rooms? The bots in chat rooms are running codes, that create that error, and trying to boot you off yahoo.
December 21, 2006 at 1:55 am #155449DermotParticipantVings, that happens when someone is using a recent exploit in yahoo using a modified chat packet then blasted into the room from a few ids and it makes your messenger peak at 99% and usually either crash you or disconnect you.
There are drastic steps to combat this but i feel yahoo! needs to rectify it asap.
December 24, 2006 at 4:49 pm #155455vingsMemberThanks dermot! Guess v have 2 face these kind of problems rite? Anyway wats life without problems? lol
December 24, 2006 at 11:18 pm #155450DermotParticipantYeah vings, the kids on yahoo! like to play with their toys and pick on innocent chatters.
Yahoo! messenger has a routine to ignore people in a chatroom that post too quick with the same text.
This is this latest exploit lets a person send text/chat packets at a very fast rate and it messes up yahoo! messenger routine for doing so and it starts popping up that error about not been able to ignore yourself.
Hopefully yahoo will fix it sooner or later.
December 27, 2006 at 8:16 am #155452tekNerdMemberSince is about ignore…but not chat room related.
How is possible to end up in someone’s ignore list since I am in her contacts list and she didn’t delete me (not even by mistake, I can assure u about this since I saw it with my own eyes) ?December 28, 2006 at 12:16 am #155448Jeff HesterKeymasterits called auto ignore. If you send messeges to fast Yahoo messenger thinks you are a bot.

I mean, I tried to add someone from my contacts list and says I can’t do it before I remove them from the contacts list.
Anywho, I really don’t know so I will believe you. Thanks for your time.January 3, 2007 at 8:55 pm #155451DermotParticipantWell let me explain this..
Think of this as a normal chat packet into the room from joe_soap
[PACKET]0x00A8(bytes=00224)(err#=0x0000) 104«»Big room:1«»109«»joe_soap«»117«»Hi everybody in the room 🙂«»6969«»«»124«»1«»
This would be a normal packet into a room and your messenger would decode it into …
Joe_Soap: hi everybody in the room 🙂
What these new room flooders are doing is using the 124 part field to put in extra data thats not effected by the 300 character limit in the packet and putting loads of info/chacracter sin it to fill the packet size up and start flooding the room with the chat text but each line they send is much bigger in size than it’s suppose to be and people on slower connections get disconnected.
example would be this..
[PACKET]0x00A8(bytes=00224)(err#=0x0000) 104«»Big room:1«»109«»joe_soap«»117«»Hahaha im a booter and you’re all getting booted«»6969«»«»124«»100560743650674674674856236450734605934605963407504587340

joe_soap: Hahaha im a booter and you’re all getting booted
if it even lets u see it in the first place as the booter will more than likely have a few ids in sending text with the big room packet fast and you will get an error about ignoring yourself and get disconnected.
This is just an example.
