hey everyone!
i’ve missed you all! i was out of commission for a while due to a fire in my apartment. don’t worry, it was the old one, and NOT the new one.
i’m in my new apartment now..kinda ironic that the fire happened on march 23 and i moved in here on march 31, but anyway…
luckily, my stay in the old apartment with my aunt and uncle (it was an apartment over their garage, and it was a garage fire) was temporary, and my parents’ homeowners insurance covered my losses.
so i finally got a new laptop, a toshiba. and i had to wait for internet to be installed. i tried to steal a connection with my wi-fi on the laptop, but no luck. my new apartment is in the basement. so far, i’m not impressed with the toshiba, or windows vista either.
anyways, i’m back. so..what did i miss?

Welcome back!! Great to see you up and posting again. Glad you made it thru the fire (pun intended) and that you have Internet access now. P/S I’m not so sure about the Toshiba, but junk Vista and use XP instead. There are still a lot of teething problems with Vista (=Windows Millenium II?)
BBB is in a state of flux now. Change is in the air, and hopefully for the better. All I can say is, this year could be an eventful year for the site.
Looking forward to your posts, Rae.

May 12, 2007 at 10:04 pm #160952gossipingraeMemberthanks for the well wishes everyone! i’m much better about the whole fire thing, i’m just thankful that i woke up in time! it was a garage fire, and my apartment was above the garage…
anyways, since i’m here, i’ve been told to get rid of windows vista and go back to xp.
is there a place online that i can downgrade for free, or can i go to the store and buy it (if they even make it anymore)?
and another question…i’ve been told that limewire is not compatible with WV (windows vista). i did notice my computer was slow with it, and limewire did detect a firewall, although i had the firewall temporarily disabled.
i’ve got a new ipod and wanted to start downloading new stuff, but it seems itunes isnt compatible either.
HELP!

I’m sure you can still get Windows XP in the stores. I’m backing off from Vista for at least a couple of months, until the compatibility problems with software are sorted out. Once you boot Vista off your laptop and install XP, you shouldn’t be getting the problems you’re having now. Feel free to post if you have further questions…May 13, 2007 at 11:16 am #160948AnnaParticipantRae, like Phillip said, XP is certainly still available to purchase in stores.
As far as I know, there’s no such thing as an XP downgrade (unless you consider Vista one ;)), so you’ll have to reformat and do a fresh OS install.
May 13, 2007 at 3:42 pm #160950DavidParticipantMake sure you check driver compatibility for your laptop before you install a new OS, go to the manufacturer’s website and select your model and see what is available for download–they should have it, but check first.
