RedDawn
MemberHi everyone,
So glad I found this forum, definitely adding to my favourites. Well as you can tell from the title I’m only new to IM, just downloaded WLM last night and have been familiarizing myself with the workings. I’m feeling fairly confident and ready to go, only one problem, I’ve no contacts.
Can you help or point me in the right direction as I can’t wait to get started. Thanks

ModeratorHi, RedDawn:
Welcome to the BBB forums. And welcome to the IM scene! If you’d like to add contacts to your WLM, BBB is a good starting place. Just click on a member’s name you’d like to add (it’s blue-coloured) and you’ll be taken to his/her member profile. If they have a WLM contact address, you can add them to your contact list. Bear in mind however, that a request will be sent to them first, and they will have to accept or deny it.
And BTW, you’re welcome to add me to your list.

MemberHi Philip
Thanks for your reply and warm welcome, you’ve been very helpful 😀 . Sorry about the silly question but I never touched a computer until 2 months ago and can’t learn quick enough. Its becoming an addiction, its 2:00am here and I still haven’t got any dinner yet 🙁 . Anyway thanks again I’ll have to try your advice tomorrow, I need some food and sleep 😀 .
bye

ParticipantWelcome RedDawn! Glad you found BBB! You’ve found a wonderful resource to help you with any problems you encounter or to answer any general questions you may have. You’d be surprised how many of your friends/co-workers/family may be on WLM. Don’t hesitate to tell (or email) people what you’re doing, and how much you enjoy it. Even people who don’t have it may download it since it’s a great way to be able to stay in touch. And don’t forget…with interoperability, you can also add contacts who have a Yahoo IM account. While some of the features don’t work when you cross platforms, I’ve never had any problems to speak of.
I can’t tell you how much video call helps to bridge the distance. Web cam’s don’t cost very much these days & many come with a built it mic – although I personally prefer a separate headset with mic. But either way, being able to see some of your contact is really neat – especially as you make new friends around the globe – it’s really nice to be able to put a face to the chats.
WLM opens up a whole new world to keeping in touch. In fact, it opens up the world to keeping in touch. I now have friends around the world. I’m in the US but I have contacts in Canada, New Zealand, Austraila, Saudi, Scotland, and of course all over the US…it makes them all within reach. And the best part is it’s free!!
We’re all here if you have any questions and again…I’m so glad you found BBB. There is a tremendous wealth of knowledge to be had from the members here on any number of topics.

ParticipantBut of course I do!! I’m so sorry Philip!!! Wasn’t thinking enough to name everyone but my BBB friends are some of the most important. And some of the closest friendships I have developed as a result of this site as well.
