Membergot 6.0….just reinstalled it………..yesterday i was able to send ims but kept being booted off……was chattin with someone and if i didnt get a reply i checked by sending a help message to the yahoo helper, when no automatic reply was received i had to log out and back in to continue my conversation….so it seems to be that i am being disconnected regularly….even though it looks as though messenger is still connected……
thanks for you reply, nettiMay 10, 2005 at 12:09 am #121270Netti

When the connection goes out of sync for just 1 packet. Ok, just to make it easier to understand, basically when your connection from you to the Yahoo! server(s) and between the Yahoo! server(s) and everything between it to your recipient(s), if just something goes out of sync, that happens. Really not much you can do, because everything in between can cause that. This happens a lot especially if you are talking to someone in another side of the world =/

It could also be the telephone line from your house to the outside. If you have a bad cable, even DSL can have problems. As I said before, even 1 packet that is out sync can cause problems like that.

ParticipantWilf when you uninstalled Messenger did you delete the remaining Yahoo! folder yahoo denies to remove on the uninstall…when it should?
do that after an uninstall and reboot then download Messenger again.
If you remain getting disconnected i suggest changing the connection type Yahoo! Messenger uses in its Preferences under connections.
“No proxies” would be the usual but try “no network detection”
If you have a software firewall like Zone alarm or sygate..and have XP..make sure windows firewall is off…having 2 firewalls on at same time is not recommended and may cause connection problems. Make sure Ypager.exe has full access past these firewall to work in sync with the internet connection or you will get disconnects.
