KeymasterWell, you could turn off the fader..
I don’t use the bells-and-whistles (though I’ve tried them). Seems like everyone is determined to make AIM do stuff it wasn’t built to handle (like the text fader). Meanwhile, Yahoo has a fader built-in!
Too bad AOL controls the world, eh?

MemberWhat is the character limit in AIM, anyway? I haven’t run across a problem when I’ve been chatting. I don’t use a whole lot of formatting, but I can get wordy.

MemberI think the limit is around 1300 characters. Using text fading does eat up the limit really fast. I’ve found I just have to send the mesage more often if I am using a fader. So it breaks it up.
If you use direct connect it *might* and that is a big *might*, because I don’t remember, and don’t feel like testing it right now… it might increase your character limit.
I just gave up on using text faders for AIM myself, because it just took more time to say stuff. Just pick a single color you like.:)

MemberAlong with the ability to eliminate the character limit in AIM while you are direct connected, you can also sign off of AIM and still talk to the person/s that you are direct connected to. This is great for those conversations that are to important to be interupted, not that I would be lucky enough to have one.:)

MemberBesides getting rid of the text limit, direct connection also gets rid of your rate limit, so you can talk as fast as you want.

Memberi really dont see why AIM dominates the IM world…it think out of Yahoo IM, MSN and other IM’s, AIM is pretty limited. Yet, no one i know uses Yahoo or MSN.
talk about a messed up world.
But then again…AIM has the spiffy yellow guy. come ON. MSN has a butterfly.
Pansies.
