Is there anyway that I can put a photo on my signature on Gmail not on the forum but Gmail so when I send email it sends an image that I want with the email in the sig?
July 24, 2005 at 6:51 pm #126594SpikeMemberDepending on Gmail’s settings, you might be able to try simple HTML (an IMG tag). I remember wanting to do this awhile back, but I wasn’t sure if it was possible. Make sure to test it by sending yourself an e-mail and checking it with Outlook and the Gmail interface, as well.

For example, compose a new email in Gmail and copy the picture you have as your Forums signature. Then paste it into your Gmail message, and it should show up just fine. You cant copy it into the “signature” field in your settings though.
September 2, 2005 at 9:42 pm #126599AqeelParticipantThis is a question asked on Google Answers, related to this topic, would somebody here explain it further and demonstrate it. I don’t have much knowledge about HTML so please explain in detail.
Question: Is it possible to include a flash file in your Gmail signature? I’m a flash designer and I want to put my signature made in flash in my Gmail signature, how can I do this?
Answer: In my experience, first you need to use an email program that supports HTML. Then place your Flash graphic on a web server. Go back to the email options, where you have typed your signature copy, add a line of HTML to place the Flash file. There can be a lot of coding to place aFlash file, but you can get away with just the “embed src=”http://www.mysite.com/fileURL.swf” in brackets. Replace theactual path of course.September 2, 2005 at 11:13 pm #126589Jeff HesterKeymasterAqeel wrote:This is a question asked on Google Answers, related to this topic, would somebody here explain it further and demonstrate it. Stay on topic, please.

Stay on topic, please.Aqeel asked a question on how to embed flash in a gmail signature. i answered. that is how we got here. to me it seems like it is on topic (flash displays images).September 3, 2005 at 3:20 am #126596SpikeMemberIf Gmail enabled flash for signatures, people would abuse it. Allowing the use of some HTML by itself is a risk because people always find holes and manage to screw it up. And besides, would you want an annoying flash banner at the bottom of every one of your e-mails? I know I wouldn’t.
As far as I know, you cannot do anything in the Gmail Web Interface other than if that copy/paste method works that Kudo mentioned above.
You MUST have POP Forwarding enabled, and use Outlook or similar, then you are able to manage your signature in a more efficient manner.
Why do you guys even want images in your signatures, anyway? E-mail is becoming obsolete, people really don’t use it to actually talk anymore, and images take up e-mail load and download time, plus, e-mail isn’t a forum board, you don’t need a signature, so why even have it?
September 3, 2005 at 2:33 pm #126591Jeff HesterKeymasteremail is being obsolete? sure it’s filled with spam, but it is useful for real conversations. i mean you can talk shit all day on a forum and everyone can read it (depending on who you talk to email is as public as forum posts). email gives people a sense of privacy and REAL talking or letter writing. on AIM or similar conversations are as follows: hello >> hey >> what’s going on? >> nothing much >> oh i see >> (20 minutes later) i have to go bye. in an email you have more time to organize your thoughts. you’re right… real talking is being a thing of the past. these days people want short answers, half sentences, and word replies instead of conversations that last hours.
i don’t see why anyone would want an image or flash signature at the bottom of their email, but obviously some people do. this is a forum to ask questions in. using Outlook, or another email client you can do things like embed flash or images inside your email message. it seems Spike has answered all questions relating to html in your gmail message.
